Romanoff and Juliet auditions

Auditions are now finished for our next show, Peter Ustinov’s comedy, ‘Romanoff and Juliet’, which takes to the Bishopstoke stage from 17th to 19th May 2018.

After a very long process which had to be done in four sections due to everybody’s acting commitments, we now have a very strong cast for the show and director Pete Burton is a very happy bunny!

Thank you everyone for all your efforts, we’re deeply sorry for those who were unsuccessful, although genuinely knocked out by the standard of everybody’s efforts! It made things very difficult for Pete, which is the best any director should wish for!

Romanoff and Juliet

For our May production this year, Bishopstoke Players are revisiting a play we last performed 26 years ago – we enjoyed it so much that we wanted to do it all over again!

Peter Ustinov’s delightful comedy, “Romanoff and Juliet”, is set in a tiny, mythical country, lying smack on the border between East and West, which is defended by an army of two and a daring General who is constantly playing off one superpower against the other.

So, what happens when the son of the Russian ambassador accidentally falls head over heels in love with the daughter of the American ambassador?

This charming play cleverly manages to be both a comic spoof of the Cold War and a romantic comedy, with both sides eventually coming to the realisation that international rivalries pale in the face of true love.

Performances are in Bishopstoke Memorial Hall from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th May 2018 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 (£6 for those aged 16 or under) and are available on this page or email or phone (07871) 006551.

Like all Bishopstoke Players’ productions, proceeds will be donated to the charity Action for Children.
